McLaren Bringing Award-Winning Supercars to Melbourne Motor Show

British motor racing super marque McLaren has confirmed the multi-award winning McLaren 750S and McLaren Artura Spider, the latter of which will make its Australian debut at the Melbourne Motor Show, taking place at the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre over the 5-6 April weekend.

The rear-wheel drive McLaren 750S Coupe was recently crowned the Top Gear Performance Car of the Year 2024 and the Robb Report Car of the Year 2024.  The lightest and most powerful series-production McLaren is powered by a 4 Litre V8 twin turbo producing 551kW (750PS), flashing through the 0 to 100km/h dash in 2.8 seconds.  It’s built on a carbon fibre chassis, a touchstone to their McLaren road cars and Formula 1 association.  The award-winner is priced at $800,000 drive away.

The recently released McLaren Artura Spider will make its Australian motor expo debut at the Melbourne Motor Show and uses next generation hybrid engine technology, powered by a 3 Litre V6 twin turbo hybrid, pumping out 514kW (700PS).  Zipping through the 0-100km/h dash in 3.0 seconds, it too is built from carbon fibre and is closely connected to their Formula 1 innovations with its hybrid engine.  It is priced at $600,000 drive away.

Dimitri Egonitis, General Manager of McLaren Melbourne is proud to showcase the two supercars at the epic motoring event.  “McLaren is a brand for those who live and breathe cars and we are delighted to be back at the Melbourne Motor Show among car enthusiasts.”  “It’s a time of great celebration for McLaren as the reigning Formula 1 Constructors Champion – and being at the Motor Show is really exciting for us and our fans.”  “This is also the first time the Artura Spider has been displayed at a Motor Show in Australia – and the first time we’ve displayed the 750S since winning the Top Gear magazine Performance Car of the Year Award which is a great honour.”

Craig Phinn, Managing Director of the Motor Show shares Dimitri’s enthusiasm.  “McLaren has such a rich history as Formula 1 and motor racing champions, we’re absolutely stoked to have them bring such incredible vehicles to the show, so people can get up close and personal with what the future of motoring will look like.”

The Melbourne Motor Show is one of the most anticipated automotive events in the country.  The Show features 23 original equipment manufacturers and 87 aftermarket brands over 32 stands, including nine new international car unveilings.  MG, BYD, and Geely Farizon have confirmed new vehicle debuts so far.
