Website update

I just wanted to give everyone an update on what’s happening with Automotive Torque.  I’ll start of by saying that the last two months have resulted in the highest number of views for the website.  Thanks to everyone for their continued support.

Due to COVID-19 and the restrictions in Victoria, it’s been harder than usual to obtain new cars to review.  I’ve been in touch with Genesis and Toyota regarding press cars.  The two new cars that I want to obtain are the Genesis GV80 and the Toyota GR Yaris.  The GV80 should hopefully be available to review within the next month or two, while the GR Yaris should be available later in the year.  Hopefully restrictions will ease soon and I’ll get the opportunity to test these cars.

COVID-19 has also had an impact on Tampered Motorsport events.  I’ve only done two track days at Sandown this year, in January and June.  The team did a great job of running the event in June.  They satisfied the regulations by enforcing social distancing, not allowing spectators and having an online sign in and drivers’ briefing.  After this event, I thought that future events would return to normal, but the second wave of coronavirus has since hit, so I’m not sure when these track days will return.

I’ve done an oil change on my Nissan 300ZX and also replaced the air filter.  It’s a performance air filter from a company called Jim Wolf Technology.  The car’s been driven on a few occasions after the installation and it feels a bit faster in the higher part of the rev range.  It will be nice to get back to Sandown to determine whether the new upgrade makes an improvement to my lap times.

I hope that everyone’s going well in these difficult times.
